You're basically being told 'go here', 'do this', 'do that' by the woman communicating with you but luckily it starts to die down on the next level. Then a good portion of the beginning has a lot of, I guess you can call it hand holding. There's really only two classes to start with since marines and navy are basically the same. Every thing else is either 'meh' or 'why?' which makes me wonder why this game is considered to be one of the best in the first place.įirst, the game has a terrible tutorial/class selection section at the beginning. That's all there is that I like about the game. Another thing I liked is the inventory, it's simple and easy to use. The main thing that I can see why this game is considered great and what I really like about SS2 is it's atmosphere and immersion. I can see the inspiration other games took from both this and it's prequel, most notably BioShock takes a large amount of inspiration from SS2. To me, System Shock 2 is an alright kind of game. So after playing the first I went straight to the second and I can see why it was praised but at the same time I don't. If you want a TL DR: it's a good game but it hasn't aged well.
